Letter to the editor - FAIR, ACCURATE, HONEST
Regarding your story of the “Raunchy” band that was hired to play in the park last Friday, I hope that you have your lawyers on call as your story holds not one ounce of truth, no credible witnesses and the fact that you aired it yesterday as “Breaking News” almost five days after the fact just proves that you have nothing else to report on and that you indeed are the bottom of the barrel for news in Toledo. I was at the show on Friday and the only offensive thing besides the reek of Depends and Ben Gay from the elderly passing out the beer tickets was the opening band, Velvet Jones butchering my favorite covers.
You have some nerve. The band was great and better than most that come to this barren shell of a city. Yet you would not know this as no one from your staff was there. Instead you half-assed searched to dig up some dirt from the past, misquoting and calling that band MT-TV. The band that showed up on Friday, MT-TV is not the same band that you went on air connecting with the “other band”. There may be some of the same members, but that is it. Yet, again, you would not know this, as you did no research, desperate for ratings. However, for the sake of argument, are you telling me that if the “Rolling Stones” turned up and played in the park, you would slander them just the same way you did MT-TV? Don’t the “Rolling Stones” have a past that is sorted, equal if not much worse then the band you are trying to claim showed up on Friday?
I have seen this band more times than I can count, and at this “Family Event” full of people drinking beer and playing grab ass on the lawn, this show was toned down to almost Nazi Germany standards to accommodate. Let me pick apart your story –
“Major Outcry after Raunchy Band Performs in Downtown Toledo” – From whom? Produce names, people, and complaints. I’ll bet you can not.
“A Toledo police officer working security there, who didn’t want to go on camera (Coward), tells us, the lead singer was not wearing underwear” – False…. She worn a pair of pants the entire evening. So 1) How did Mr. Policeman making extra cash on the side (probably against policy thus not wanting to go on camera) know she had no underwear on and 2) why didn’t he fine her, arrest her for public indecency? Because it was false!
“and frenzied fans were tossing money at her”. – Again, you’re 100% incorrect. A “Back up” singer performing a theatrical scene, playing a HOMELESS person held up a cardboard sign that read “Will sing for food”. A single male fan went and placed a dollar bill on the stage which blew off in the wind. How many people did you have investigating this story?
“Meanwhile, the manager at the Blarney Irish Pub downtown says some of his customers left the concert in disgust”. – So the only credible person you could get to go on air and on record was not even there, but does manage a new failing business that could use some free publicity and business. To him I say, “you’re a bloody wanker and your pub is anything but Irish”
“The director of Citi Fest didn’t want to go on camera, but insists, the organization checks out all bands before they perform. She couldn’t explain why she didn’t know the band’s history other than to say there’s nothing mentioned on the band’s website”. - Again, your accusations that this band is connected to or is the same band as you paint them to be is just slanderous. I hope you and your staff, the station and the network will one day be in front of a judge trying to explain your story, your resources and your accusations.
I am no way affiliated with the band other than being a huge fan. MT-TV have played all over the Toledo area with rave reviews. I am saddened that your station, your staff and story just proves what I have heard since I moved to the area 8 years ago. “Toledo is full of conservative hypocrites”. Downtown is almost dead. People are leaving because of this attitude. Your report was irresponsible and shows that your are the “National Inquirer” of our local news. However, if you find yourself wishing that there were a rock you could hide under, do the right thing. I challenge you. Go get the REAL story and air your apologies afterwards. On Friday I saw a crowd on their feet, enjoying the park, enjoying the music, dancing, and last but not least, spending money!

If you have been under a rock the past week, then let me be the first to inform you that the band is off for some much needed rest and relaxation. I have been in direct contact and it appears that the flu, the American strain dropped in to say hello. I know that at least 4 of our friends have come down with it and from the sound; it is not a pretty site. Therefore all shows this weekend had to be canceled.
The ladies are off, heading south to thaw out a bit and reunite with some old friends and fans. Therefore up here in the Detroit area, we will have to go without for a while until we get to see them again. Now I know that many of you are whimpering, crying and feeling sorry for yourself trying to deal with life without MTTV. Not me! I for one am trying to devise a plan to make the trip down south and attend the shows and meet up with Southern Fans. I am previously committed for the first round of gigs (the dreaded wedding) but I plan to make the second round of shows. I would suggest a Road Trip, but we all know how that would turn out. People were not willing to make the trek to Cleveland or Erie, so I dare think that I would find takers for a journey to Alabama. But who knows. If you’re interested send an email or leave a comment and we’ll talk.
The T-Shirt rumors are true. They are being produced as I sit here and write this. I have seen the concept images and if they look half as good as they do on paper, they will go fast. These first designs are “Limited” and sure to become a collectors item for the TRUE FAN. Not sure yet of how they will be distributed, be it here, the MTTV website or maybe the shirts will make their way down south for the gigs there where they could possibly sell out. More incentive for the true fan to check their calendars’ against the gigs.
Lastly, I see that there are many of you are visiting the site. Surely you are fans and one of you must have something to say or a story or an experience to share. I have many ideas I would like to share with you, one of which is a fan party this summer. Who knows, maybe the band will attend.
MT-TV the road trip - A fan’s review
It is one thing to see MT-TV live and experience the show. It always is unlike any show that you have seen before. However it is a completely different experience to be a fan and have had attended many shows and to walk into a venue like the House of Blues and see the expressions of awe on the faces of the people experiencing MT-TV for the very first time. No matter how you try and describe it to them, or share your own personal experiences, they have no clue until the ground begins to rumble beneath them and the lights dim down to an eerie darkness. Then as the music begins and the force from the energy of sounds engulf them, their eyes flickering of the reflection from the flames now moving across the stage held by the three hooded figures with torches in hand, you see their faces. You see them change. You see them suddenly understand. “Shit’s going to get extremely fucking weird in here tonight”. Then she appears. It was all over but the crying from there!
The shows this weekend were great. For those of you that couldn’t make it, my sincere apologies as you truly missed a fantastic time. For those of you that could, but didn’t it is your loss you bunch of wankers! The House of Blues was kick ass. It was the first time that I personally got to see them on a proper stage. The sound was perfect and the crowd was into it. The band didn’t miss a beat as expected. I was kept busy weaving in and out between the crowd from one end of the stage to the other snapping photographs. Most pictures came out good, others not so well as they did not allow “Professional photography equipment” into the venue. For those of you that would like to view the complete set hit me up and I will send you a link. There were a few familiar faces in the crowd that night and that was refreshing. The band played one set with and encore and the folks in the balcony were on their feet. From there we enjoyed the next act before heading off.
I would like to personally thank all that endured Ohio’s brand new smoking band and stood out in the frozen tundra with me. A special thanks to the night staff at the Cleveland Hampton Inn, Downtown who had to put up with the antics on Friday night. Really, it wasn’t me!
Saturday we set out for the drive to Erie, Pennsylvania. Naturally it was snowing which made driving a tad bit tricky at first, but we got it under control. We landed in Erie and rang up Sherlock’s, which informed us that the band was not due on until midnight. It was 3 PM. We showered, changed and then headed down for a bite to eat. The Avalon bar served up a mean cheese burger. The beer wasn’t bad either. We knew that the band was to arrive, and once they did a few of them popped their heads out to say hello. We kept ourselves entertained with the 6 men dressed in drag who were at the bar. Apparently there was a convention. Enough said.
We eventually arrived at the gig. After a few cocktails, shots and coffee, a great band hit the stage and I must say that I was extremely impressed. Not only were they all hotties, it was obvious that they knew what they were doing. Their singer Jackie played to the crowd like a veteran.
The crowd grew and the place got packed fast. You could literally feel the anticipation building as the people waited semi patiently to see and hear this “9 girl band”. The crowd kept getting larger and some (you know who you are) more intoxicated. The band took the stage and the sound check was taking longer than usual. I am not sure what it was, but the band did not seemed phased by it. We took our places center stage and I prepared the camera. I soon realized that the batteries were dead and the spares that I brought, along with the charger were back in the room. Hey, cut me some slack. This was the first road trip. MT-TV brought all that is them to the stage and the place started to rock. Being up front I soon began to feel the crowd. It was hard to maintain our position as the crowd began pushing forward. I feared for a moment that we might get smashed. This crowd was different. This crowd was into it like I have not witnessed previously. The band was flawless. I have to say this was the best show for me to date. The crowd, the band and the entire atmosphere. As if all the planets lined up in unison, it was perfect. They did an extended encore that was vocally appreciated by the crowd. It was past last call and the staff was busy trying to wrap it up. We headed out to blizzard like conditions and slipped and sled our way back to the Avalon.
It was a great road trip. I would like to give a special thanks to fan “Fred” who had to put up with me and my bodily functions the entire time. I still say I got you on the belching. I would like to give a shout out to Christina, the kick ass guitarist of “Level C”. She made both shows and is a hell of a sweet person and a friendly face. A big “Hell Yeah” to the folks from Toledo and the Idiot (names withheld to protect the guilty). It was so very nice to see someone else who loves these girls enough to make the trek. To the cute guy with the hot girl friend, it was nice meeting you. You should have called back! To Jackie and the boys, you rock. It was nice meeting you all. Finally, to the band as well as the rest of the family, thank you so very much for having us along. We MUST do this again.
If anyone out there was at either show and would like to tell us about your experience, please do not be shy! Let’s hear it!
One Week & Counting - Great Show @ The Irock
Got a question for the band? Hit the fan mail link and get it answered. Check out the pictures from Friday’s show at the IROCK. Thanks for all of you that turned out! A special thanks to Savannah Lynn for the pictures! One week and counting! It is going to be a pretty sad turn out of fans heading east to the “House of Blues” this upcoming weekend. Here I thought that these girls had some of the most loyal of fans. Maybe I was wrong. Anyhow, for those of you that have committed, I assure you a great time! For those that may have a change of heart, leave a comment and we’ll get you the information!
“A fan club is a group that is dedicated to a well known person, group, idea (such as history) or sometimes even an inanimate object (such as a famous building). Most fanclubs are run by fans who devote considerable time and resources to supporting them. There are also “official” fanclubs that are run by someone associated with the person or organization the club is centered around. This is the case for many musicians, soccer teams and more”.
There has been some rustling about as to an “Official” fan club and the fact that this place here is just “someone’s” site. This is true. I am that someone. I happen to be a fan. A fan of the music and a fan, and friend of the band. I put this site up in hopes that other fans would come here and join me and show support for these lovely ladies. This is everyone’s site. All of the comments and emails are forward directly to the band. There is a link off to the right where you can register. By doing so you will have access to the site. You will be able to write your own posts. If this is not a fan club then what is? Let us know what you want. This can evolve into what ever we want it to. We are the fans.
